Happy Wednesday, we are half way through the week and almost back to the weekend again! January is an exciting month for me because it is the start of the new year and its my birthday month! I always get excited to celebrate seeing a new year and embarking on a new life adventure with the new age lol. But anyway let’s get into the first Black Owned Business Feature of 2020.

I discovered Pooka at the Natural Hair Coalition (formally the NJ Natural Hair and Beauty Expo, love a good rebranding) this year and was immediately drawn to the table when I saw all the body butters lol. I love how helpful the representative from the brand was to explain all the products and help me to find scents that I would love. Of course I picked up 2 body butters and I’m currently obsessed with them.
Before we get into the mini review, Pooka was created by Dawn Fitch 20 years ago in her kitchen! (That is truly amazing!) She became ill one day and started doing research after doctors couldn’t properly diagnose what was going on. She came across some research on body products and how harmful the ingredients in some products can be so she started experimenting, making products and it evolved from there.
I love that the products have all natural ingredients so you can look at the label, know and can pronounce everything and know you are using something that is not only beneficial for your skin but safe to use. I am doing a better job at reading the labels on products and using more products with natural ingredients. You can find ingredients such as Shea Butter, Avocado Oil and Tumeric oil in some of the products.

Now these body butters are just everything. I love the smooth texture and how it just melts into the skin. It is not greasy or feels heavy on the skin at all. It also keeps your skin moisturized and soft the entire day. I need the extra moisture especially around this time of the year.

Pooka Pure and Simple also has a variety of body and hair products. I am really interested in trying some other products by this brand. I highly recommend checking out this Black Owned Business and supporting them, you can check out the website here: https://www.pookapureandsimple.com/default.asp
Have you discovered any new Black Owned Businesses lately or have a favorite? Leave them in the comments so I can check them out.
