Book Review: Before I Let Go by Kennedy Ryan

One of my goals for this year is to read more and read about 10 books. This is the second book of 2026 that I have read lol. It took me a while towards the beginning of the year but I am catching up and hopefully will get close to my goal by the end of the year….we shall see lol. I’ve heard so much about the author Kennedy Ryan and how good her books are and the people were not lying lol. I picked up 4 books by her and excited to dive into the rest of them.

My only regret with this book is that I didn’t not slow down and take my time reading it. When a storyline is good , I get excited and want to keep reading to see what is going to happen next and how the story continues to unfold. I was reading this boom during the time I was off for my surgery so I got through majority of the book pretty quickly. I recently finished it up and get the comment someone made when I posted about reading it “I wish I could read this again for the first time”. I totally understand that comment because Before I Let Go was so good and honestly want to read it again but this time, slow down and take my time.

So I don’t want to give too much of the book away to those that haven’t read it yet but I encourage those who didn’t to just go get it and read it. Before I Let Go is based on the relationship between Josiah and Yasmen. They are currently navigating life post divorce, co-parenting, still running their business, dating others and still dealing with the residual feelings for each other and past traumas they haven’t dealt with. I love how Kennedy has the chapters from the perspective of each main character and how she told this story. It was just so good and I honestly didn’t want it end. It was honestly a complete story from start to finish and I just couldn’t put the book down.

Before I Let Go is part of the Skyland series which has two other books, This Could Be Us and Can’t Get Enough. I am about to start the second book (This Could Be Us) and can’t wait. I will remember to take my time and read the rest of this series because I know I will enjoy if it is like the first book I read. So again I’m going to tell you to read this book if you haven’t already or pick it up again.

Have you read any Kennedy Ryan books? Have a favorite? What are you currently reading? Let’s chat.
