Mother’s Love

We are coming up on Mother’s Day and yes I do agree that we should love and celebrate our moms every day. Sometimes it is nice to have an extra special day. I have a very energetic, smart, sweet 7 year old son. You have probably seen him make a few cameos in my Youtube videos lol.

Parenting is tough to be honest and I am still learning. I feel like there are different levels to parenting as they grow. I find myself sometimes worrying and wondering if I am doing the right thing, is he going to turn out okay, am I being a good mom? I am at that phase where kids act like they don’t hear anything you say and you find yourself repeating things one too may times. I am trying to find my way on this parenting level but glad I have someone to help with raising this kid.

Yes you may hear some moms complain about their kids and not having privacy (which is true lol) and so much but we love these little humans we carried and brought into this world and couldn’t imagine life without them. It is just an unconditional love that is just so amazing. I just can’t get over how big my son is getting and you just want time to slow down a bit so you can enjoy them at this stage before they grow up and start asking you to borrow your car or for money lol.

I am pretty sure I drove my mom crazy ( and I think I still do lol) but thankful for all the lessons she taught me. Funny story, I was learning how to do stuff on my own and of course didn’t listen to my mom when she was trying to tell me how to wash clothes. I thought the detergent was already in the washing machine and all I had to do was throw the clothes in there and they would get clean. Little did I know I was moving around dirty clothes in water. I still laugh about this and learned my lesson after that day lol.

As much as I didn’t listen (now I know where my child gets it from) I figured out those lessons on my own and always thought about what she was trying to teach me. I learned how to be independent and do things for myself. I learned how to stand on my own and do things for myself and if I need help, I know how to ask for it. I am so thankful for all her love and support of me and glad she is able to see me as a mom now.

I hope to continue learning about motherhood and that I’m steering my son in the right direction. Motherhood is one of the most important jobs I’ve had in my life and I love everything about this job. See you guys tomorrow!

Drea Daze: Fit, Focused and Wellness

If you read my BEING TRANSPARENT post (if you haven’t, you should go read it lol) you would know I just started on this health/fitness journey. I just want to be a better, healthier version of myself. I don’t want to drop too much weight, I just want to be happy with how I look in my clothes (and actually fit them lol), tone up and be in shape.

It took me a while to come up with a name for this series. Huge thank you those who gave me ideas and answered my Instastories when I asked for help.

I am going to be doing this challenge from September through January, right before my birthday and I will be taking you guys along. I sat down recently and mapped out the foods I was trying to cut out or cut back on, how often I was going to exercise and so on. I will be tracking my progress and give updates mid month and at the end of the month.  I will also be weighing and measuring myself in the beginning and end of the month.

For September, I will be trying out meal prepping. I have tried before in the past and I think it would help me stick to what I’m supposed to be eating. My biggest thing is portion control. I am always hungry and just will eat until I am full (which is rare lol) or very close to it. I just want to eat the right amounts and not feel so hungry. Each week I am going to try out different meals and snacks to see what works for me. I will also be working out 2-3 times a week and starting off slow with the workouts.

This is going to be a work in progress and I know things do not happen overnight. I know this is a step in the right direction to getting my healthy and feeling better about myself, well I just want to fit in my clothes lol. I know it is going to be hard staying away from certain foods and the struggle of making time to work out but I’m determined to get on track and make this happen. Hope you guys have a great start to your week and see you Thursday!.

Measurements at the beginning of the month:

Weight: 135

Waist: 34 in

Around my stomach: 33 in

Black Owned Business Feature: Breukelen Rub

I am so excited for this week! I will be attending BlogHer tomorrow and Thursday in NY. I will be vlogging those two days and have a detailed post on my experience. I’ll also try to be on Insta Stories and Snapchat as well.

Today’s Black Owned Business feature is Breukelen Rub.

I discovered this brand last year at the Think Pink event I attended. I was immediately drawn to them because I love to cook and was interested in trying something new to season my food with. The owners, husband and wife Chef Jamaal Dunlap and Isalia Lebron were super welcoming and friendly. They told me about their start, all about the different seasonings, how to use them and they even had a food demo (and if you know me, I don’t turn down free food lol). I was sold and purchased the one pictured above.

Breukelen Rub was started in 2017 with the inspiration of creating flavors of Brooklyn neighborhoods. I just love the down to earth, family oriented and welcoming vibe of the owners and the story of why they started. I also love the seasoning I purchased, I basically use it on just about everything from vegetables to meats. You know the ingredients that make up each seasoning and it just makes your food taste so good!

You can also attend culinary classes if you visit thier Instagram page (breukelen_rub) for more information. If you would like the purchase one of their seasonings (I highly recommend it) you can visit RIGHT HERE!!

Please go support this Black Owned Business. Have a great start to your week and see you Thursday!!

Officially Moving Soon!!

Hey guys! I know that it has been a while and life happens. I wanted to pop in and let you know that I will be officially here in August. I am excited yet a little scared of this move. I’ve been on blogger for so long and it was my start but I think it is time for a change and I can’t wait. I will start out posting here every other Friday and then be here officially every Tuesday, Thursday and every other Friday.
