As you all know May is Mental Health Awareness Month and wanted to have a post up before the month was over. I’ve always talked about my mental health for the past few years and have been more comfortable speaking about it. I feel like your mental health is very important and should be a top priority. You can’t go through life continuing pouring from empty and not addressing how you are feeling mentally. I’ve learned that it is okay to admit that you are not okay.
I’m proud of myself for starting therapy last year and working through my issues and feeling better talking about things. I just wanted that validation of not feeling crazy about certain thoughts and feelings and just reassurance that things will be okay. I haven’t been back in a few months and need to get back soon.
Also I’ve been working with establishing my go to self care avenues and doing more of it everyday. I’ve established listening to music and silent car rides as my go to self care and looking for more. I had a goal to find a new hobby as a form of self care and something fun to do.
I hope you all are making your mental health a priority and doing the little things that bring you joy and make you happy. I hope that you have those go to self care acts and pouring back into yourself. Even though May is the month to bring more awareness to mental health, it should be an everyday thing.
