1st Quarter Wellness Goals

It is a new year and time to get my wellness journey back on track. My wellness journey is not just the physical aspect of working out and being active, it is also focusing on my mental health, self care and diet. I thought about focusing quarterly on a few wellness items so it would be easier and I don’t feel like I’m rushing at all. I can take my time during those 3 months, focus and accomplish my goals.

So I’ll update at the end of each quarter and then focus on the next set of goals. I’m going to start off kinda of slow with things and work my way up. Do you have any wellness goals for this year? Let’s chat

Increase Water Intake – I have been slacking on the water intake lately and need to change that. I used to drink a half gallon a day and now I barely get through two 8 oz bottles. My goal here is to start the day off with some water before I even have my morning coffee and I know I drink 32 oz a day. Once I can master that consistently, I’ll work my way up to doubling that (64 oz) which is the half gallon I was drinking before.

Waking Up Early/More Slow Mornings – I am always hitting the snooze button one too many times during the week and always in a rush to get ready and out the door for work. I love how sometimes on the weekends I wake up before everyone, take my time getting ready, sit downstairs and absorb the quietness and stillness. I’m not in a rush, I’m just there soaking in the moment. I want to do more of that and incorporate it during the week. Now I know I can’t just sit around cause I won’t go to work lol but I can wake up earlier so I can take my time getting ready. My goal is to attempt to not hit snooze so much and just get up and start. I also want to have enough time to sit and have breakfast before heading out the door. I do want to continue my slow mornings during the weekend but just want to have more time during the week.

Stretching Everyday – I know I can’t just jump right into working out. I mean I am in a whole new decade now and need to start moving so I don’t get too stiff. I do need to move my body everyday so why not start out with stretching? My goal here is to stretch in the morning or evening for about 5 minutes or more and may try to do a little more as I move through the quarter.

Cut Out Drinking During The Week, Save For The Weekend (Sunday and Saturday) – I am in my head about this one because it seems like it would be hard but I don’t think so. When the pandemic hit, we were drinking a lot and it carried over a bit into the years after that. I mean I have an occasional glass or two or bottle of wine a during the week…especially if it was a rough day but I need to scale back big time. So I know I can substitute with teas, sparkling juices, ciders and the non alcoholic wines I found during the week and I have something to look forward to over the weekend. I know this may get rough if I have a really bad and stressful day at work but I know I can do this.

Research Therapist/Book A Session – Not sure why I am super scared of this or avoiding doing this but it is time to start doing instead of just talking about it. I’ve been talking about this since sometime last year and just need to go ahead. I know I will probably procrastinate and wait until the last minute but I need to push to get this done. My goal is to set a deadline for me to do the research and book a session….maybe tie it to a reward or treat or something to look forward to if I complete this.

Continue Weekly Juicing/Increase Fruits and Veggies – We purchased a juicer sometime last year, used it once and thought it was too much work so it sat in the box for a while. We were going to give it away until I saw a juicing recipe on TikTok that inspired me to take it out the box and I want to continue on. There is a local produce place that sells fruits and veggies in bulk at affordable prices that I normally shop at to help with juicing and the intake of more fruits and veggies. My goal is to juice every week and have more fruits and veggies for snacking during the day and when I get home.
