Randomly Thinking..Why Do They Hate Influencers So Much??

I’m always inspired by things I see online and it was on the app Threads (an extension of Instagram in Twitter form). I’ve been trying to navigate my way through it and saw a discussions about people not wanting influencers on the app because they’re tired of the sponsored content and feel like they’re always being forced to buy something and all. I’ve seen a lot of discussions over time about the hate of influencers and wanted to talk about it.

Now I think there is a difference between being a content creator and influencer. I consider myself a content creator but have influenced people to purchase things I’ve mentioned and reviewed. I feel like influencers as a whole get a bad rap because some of them lie about the products they are reviewing or lie about their life and lifestyle. Some people choose to be something they are not online and it is very deceiving. People like to see the authentic self, how you really are and live your life day to day. To me it is just a turn off when people are not true to themselves and live a persona that they think the world wants to see.

I’ve seen some really interesting comments online about how influencers need to get a real job or why are all of their posts sponsored and stuff like that. Being a full time influencer is a really job and it does make money. The sponsored posts are one of the ways they make their income to live. I’m always looking at how I can get to that level and start making money and having sponsored posts. I would love that in my creator journey but some people see it as annoying.

I feel like the reason influencers are hated so much is because people don’t really understand it and I get it. All people see is the finished product and whatever you post online. They don’t see a lot of the behind the scenes stuff like filming, editing, meetings and all. It is not an easy job trying to keep up the trends and technology. People may also be jealous because it is something they want to do but too scared to or tried before and didn’t realize the work that goes into it. Also as I’ve mentioned earlier, people see a couple influencers that lie and think all of them are bad and all of them are not. A few bad apples shouldn’t ruin it for everyone and that is unfair. There are people out here who have a dream to be an influencer and have a had time because of the perception online and what others are saying. It can feel like the market is over saturated but there is no one like you.

It is just crazy to me what people say about creators/influencers/bloggers/YouTubers and all. We are not all bad and it is unfair that we’re grouped together with the bad apples. Listen if you don’t like sponsored content, there is an unfollow and block button you can use. It is that simple. The ones doing this full time have to make money somehow and sometimes it is sponsored stuff. You honestly don’t have to purchase anything but if you choose to support, just engage with the content, it helps. And honestly, some people are just miserable and haters in real life which is unfortunate. I’ll never understand the hate.
