Book Review: Everything Is F*cked A Book About Hope

I have to say that I am so proud of myself for finishing this book finally. I started reading this last year or the year before I think and I just stopped for some reason. I saw it at the beginning of the year and was determined to finish reading it and I did and it took me a while but I finished it. So let’s get into this book review.

So the title itself is super fitting for what is going on currently in this country and in the world but we have to have hope. I found this book to be a difficult read for me but it had a really great message and a lot of information. I read the previous book by the author, Mark Manson The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F*uck which was really good and also fitting for what is currently going on(I believe I did a review on this book too).

This book is filled with many philosophical stories to tie into the points of each chapter which I enjoyed. A lot of these stories I haven’t read about before and was very interesting. Majority of this book is about the Thinking Brain and Feeling Brain. The Thinking Brain represents your conscious thoughts, your ability to make calculations and your ability to reason through various options and express ideas through language. The Feeling Brain represents your emotions, impulses, intuition and instincts Chapter 2, pg 31).

This book felt like I was in psychology or philosophy class with all the different references. It gave a lot of different scenarios dealing with difficult parents, bad relationships finances and gave you solutions about how to challenge yourself, be honest and real about the situation and of course about hope. It was put into the perspective in some cases with the feeling and thinking brains and how they would handle it. It gave me a different perspective on how to look at things in life and how to assess when things happen because you know how life can be.

Even though this was a difficult read, it was a good book. It gives you a different perspective on how to look at what life and situations throw at you and how you can handle them. I have to say I enjoyed Chapter 6, The Formula of Humanity. The chapter gave basically a guide and lesson on how the navigate from childhood to being an adult. It was just interesting to read on how some people don’t really grow up or know how to deal with things in life. It was really interesting to me and gave another outlook on people roaming around this earth.

Overall, I did enjoy the book and just so glad I finally finished it. There were a few days when I wanted to give up and not finish it but I did! I would recommend picking up with book to read. Now I am on to the next book!
